Itinerary

Detailed Day-wise Itinerary Day 1 () : Arrival at Guwahati – Manas National Park Arrive at Guwahati Airport early in the morning and begin your journey towards the pristine wilderness of Manas National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas. The scenic drive takes you through lush countryside, paddy fields, and charming Assamese villages. After checking into your stay and some time to relax, head out for an afternoon Jeep Safari inside the park. Manas is known for its untouched landscapes, grasslands, riverine forests, and rich wildlife including elephants, wild buffaloes, deer, and if lucky, the elusive Bengal tiger. In the evening, take a relaxed walk through the nearby Bodo villages to experience the local way of life, traditional homes, and warm hospitality of the region. Overnight stay at Manas National Park. ________________________________________ Day 2 () : Manas – Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary Begin the day early with an Elephant Safari through the misty grasslands of Manas, one of the best ways to witness wildlife up close during the golden hours of sunrise. After breakfast, enjoy a gentle rafting experience on the crystal-clear waters of the Manas River. As the river flows through the forested landscape, keep an eye out for exotic birds, turtles, and occasionally animals coming to the riverbanks. Later, proceed towards Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, famous for having one of the highest densities of the Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros. The drive offers glimpses of rural Assam and its scenic wetlands. Reach Pobitora by evening and unwind amidst the peaceful natural surroundings. Overnight stay at Pobitora. ________________________________________ Day 3 () : Pobitora – Mayong – Kaziranga National Park Start your morning with an Elephant Safari inside Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, where rhino sightings are almost guaranteed. The sanctuary is also a paradise for birdwatchers, especially during the migratory season. After breakfast, enjoy a short birdwatching session around the wetlands before visiting the fascinating Black Magic Museum at Mayong, a village long associated with ancient folklore, mysticism, and traditional healing practices. Continue your journey towards Kaziranga National Park, passing through beautiful countryside landscapes along the Brahmaputra valley. En route, stop for lunch at Chora Ahem, known for serving authentic traditional Karbi cuisine prepared using indigenous herbs, bamboo shoots, smoked meats, and local flavors — offering a true taste of Assam’s tribal culinary heritage. Arrive at Kaziranga by evening and settle into your stay near the national park. Overnight stay at Kaziranga. ________________________________________ Day 4 () : Exploring Kaziranga National Park Wake up before sunrise for an Elephant Safari in the central range of Kaziranga National Park, home to the world’s largest population of the One-Horned Rhinoceros. The early morning light, tall elephant grass, and abundant wildlife create an unforgettable safari experience. After breakfast, visit Kaziranga Haat, a traditional weaving village where local artisans continue the age-old Assamese handloom traditions. Interact with the weavers and witness the intricate process of creating beautiful handmade textiles on traditional looms. Later in the afternoon, head for a thrilling Jeep Safari through another range of Kaziranga. Besides rhinos, the park is home to wild elephants, swamp deer, wild buffaloes, and a wide variety of birdlife. In the evening, visit the Kaziranga Orchid & Biodiversity Park to discover the rich orchid diversity of Northeast India, along with cultural performances showcasing Assamese folk traditions. Overnight stay at Kaziranga. ________________________________________ Day 5 () : Kaziranga – Hollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary – Jorhat After breakfast, drive towards Hollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary near Jorhat, the only sanctuary in India dedicated to the conservation of the Hoolock Gibbon, India’s only ape species. Walk through the dense evergreen forest trails accompanied by naturalists, listening to the distinctive calls of the gibbons echoing through the canopy. The sanctuary is also home to capped langurs, macaques, hornbills, and numerous bird species. Later, visit the historic Tocklai Tea Research Institute, the world’s oldest and largest tea research institute. Learn about the fascinating journey of Assam tea — from cultivation and processing to tasting and innovation — and understand how tea became deeply woven into the cultural and economic fabric of Assam. Spend the evening exploring the relaxed tea town atmosphere of Jorhat. Overnight stay at Jorhat. ________________________________________ Day 6 () : Jorhat – Guwahati After breakfast, begin your return journey to Guwahati through the scenic plains of Upper Assam. Enjoy the changing landscapes of tea gardens, villages, and riverside countryside along the way. Depending on your departure schedule, you may stop for refreshments and local shopping before reaching Guwahati. With beautiful memories of Assam’s wildlife, culture, cuisine, and warm hospitality, your journey with Native Trails comes to an end. END Of TRIP
