Day by day
Itinerary
Arrive in Assam and begin with a privileged introduction to its spiritual and artistic soul. From a special darshan at the revered Kamakhya Temple to lesser-known temples and remarkable sculptures, the day opens the door to Assam’s living traditions. As evening falls, the Brahmaputra becomes your dining table aboard a leisurely dinner cruise.
Day 2 | Sarthebari & Nalbari — Where Fire Shapes HeritageJourney into the heartland of Assam’s traditional craftsmanship. In Sarthebari, watch master artisans transform molten bell metal into objects that have been part of Assamese homes and rituals for generations. Later, discover the quiet artistry of bamboo and cane—materials that have shaped everyday life across the region.
Day 3 | Sualkuchi & Hajo — Silk, Looms & Sacred LandscapesStep into Sualkuchi, Assam’s legendary weaving village, where silk moves rhythmically through handlooms and centuries-old traditions remain very much alive. Encounter the lustre of Muga, the elegance of Paat and the warmth of Eri before continuing to Hajo, a remarkable landscape where faiths and traditions have shared the same soil for centuries.
Day 4 | Nagaon & Batadrava — Stories Written by HandTravel towards Batadrava, birthplace of Srimanta Sankardeva and one of the spiritual centres of Assamese culture. Here, art, devotion and literature meet through traditional manuscript painting and the enduring presence of the Thaan. By evening, arrive at the tranquil riverside landscapes of Jakhalabandha.
Day 5 | Kaziranga — Where Craft Meets the WildThe journey now enters the wild. Along the way, pause at Kaziranga Haat and discover the creativity of local artisans before wandering through the extraordinary Orchid Park. By evening, settle into the wilderness of Kaziranga, where the sounds of the forest begin to replace those of the road.
Day 6 | Kaziranga — Into the WildWake to the anticipation of the forest. Venture into Kaziranga’s extraordinary landscapes in search of its iconic wildlife, while dedicated birding reveals another, quieter world above the grasslands and wetlands. This is a day to slow down, observe and let the wilderness set the pace.
Day 7 | Majuli — Across the BrahmaputraCross the mighty Brahmaputra and enter Majuli, an island where culture is not preserved behind glass—it is lived every day. Meet potters, mask makers and weavers whose skills have travelled through generations, and begin to discover the extraordinary relationship between the island, its people and its traditions.
Day 8 | Majuli — An Island of Living TraditionsSpend a deeper day on Majuli, moving beyond the familiar paths into its villages, Satras and quiet corners. Discover stories behind its masks, textiles and rituals, meet the people who keep these traditions alive, and savour food that belongs unmistakably to the island.
Day 9 | Jorhat — Jewels & the Tea CountryLeave Majuli behind and arrive in Jorhat, the heart of Assam’s tea country. Encounter the delicate craftsmanship of traditional Assamese jewellery before retreating into the tranquillity of a tea garden estate. As the light fades over the plantations, Assam reveals yet another side of itself.
Day 10 | Sivasagar — Echoes of a Great KingdomTravel into the historic heart of the Ahom kingdom. Around Sivasagar, monumental architecture, ancient tanks and distinctive temples tell stories of a civilisation that shaped Assam for centuries. It is a day where history is not simply visited—it is encountered in stone, water and landscape.
Day 11 | Kaziranga — One Last Evening in the WildBegin the journey back towards Guwahati, with time to pause once more in the landscapes of Kaziranga. There may be one last wildlife encounter, one final sunset over the grasslands, or simply the quiet pleasure of being surrounded by the forest before the journey begins to draw to a close.
Day 12 | Guwahati — Until Our Trails Meet AgainReturn to Guwahati carrying more than photographs and souvenirs. Somewhere between the loom, the furnace, the monastery, the forest and the river, Assam has revealed itself—not as a destination to be ticked off, but as a collection of stories, people and traditions to be remembered.
Go beyond the destination.
